Prof. Richie Moalosi

Richie Moalosi is an Associate Professor and Head of Department of the Department of Industrial Design and Technology at the University of Botswana. He holds a PhD in Industrial Design (Queensland University of Technology, Australia), MA Design (University of Wolverhampton, UK), BEd Design and Technology (University of Botswana). He has 20 years teaching experience at university level. He works with small micro enterprises, community-based organisations and creative communities to uplift their brands and product or service innovation capabilities as these are considered to be the next engine of economic growth in Africa. His specialisation and research interest areas include the following: design and culture, design education, sustainable design, social innovation and additive manufacturing. He has also published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals and presented at many international conferences.

Prof. Saki Mafundikwa

Prof. Saki Mafundikwa is the founder/director of the Zimbabwe Institute of Vigital Arts (ZIVA), a design and new media college. He holds an MFA in graphic design from Yale University. His book, Afrikan Alphabets: the Story of Writing in Africa is the first book on Afrikan typography. His award winning film, Shungu: The Resilience of a People premiered at 2009’s International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA). It has screened at the top film festivals globally.
